Each new placement and contribution becomes part of the Journey as it continues to grow over time.
There is no right or wrong time to begin an Evermore Journey. A Memorial or Pet Journey can be created soon after a loss or months or even years later, whenever the time feels right. A Life Journey can begin at any stage of life as a way to capture meaningful experiences, milestones and adventures as they happen or to preserve the stories already lived. An Evermore Journey can continue to grow over time, one memory and one meaningful place at a time.
In 1999, we lost our firstborn daughter at the age of three to an inoperable brain tumour. In 2021, our son died suddenly as he was just beginning adulthood. These losses reshaped our lives and left us searching for a way to hold onto love and connection. We longed for something tangible that made us feel close to them.
After our son passed, my family and I created three-dimensional clay fingerprints to have something to hold. We shared them with his community who came to honour his life and invited them to carry them to places that felt meaningful, photographing them, leaving reflections, and adding to a shared map created in his name. What began as a simple act of remembrance slowly became a living, collective ritual.
